Chris Burton draws his musical talents from experience in several different areas, including piano performance, wind ensembles, orchestras, and jazz bands. Burton studied the art of composition under Dr. Scott McAllister (Black Dog, X) from 2004-2007 and with Ladislav Kubik at Florida State University from 2008-2010. His compositions are often characterized by highly energetic passages which are full of rhythmic life and emotion. Burton has been fortunate enough to have seen performances of many of his works including several overseas in Doha (Qatar) and Cairo (Egypt). He has also performed his own works in Nebraska and Texas, as well as internationally in Prague (Czech Republic).
Burton currently lives in New Orleans, Louisiana. He teaches Composition at the University of New Orleans and Music Theory at the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Burton is also the Director of Music at Parkway Presbyterian Church in Metairie, Louisiana where he directs choirs, handbells, and children’s programs.
